Frsky Horus X12S God of RTX

Frsky Horus X12S radio transmitter, 16-32 channel system, is built to make you the God of the Sky, just like the Egyptian God Horus. Just tilt the transmitter to facilitate auxiliary control as there is a built-in 6-axis sensor. Includes Voice Alerts for things like; audible count down timers, low voltage warnings, landing gear down warnings etc., just about anything can be programmed and with full telemetry capability and GPS. ■ by dronemission.com

User Segment
Keen Hobbyist, Pro Radio Transmitter, Collectors, Budget [$$] (PRICE CHECK ■ Nov 2016 Arthur’s Pick at Banggood)

First Impression,  the material used is heavy-weight milled CNC aluminum, like a military-grade version of the popular Frsky Taranis. It is impact resistance, weight just under 3 pounds.  The sticks equipped with six ball bearings for precision and durability.  A lot of programming features to keep you up learning and discovering.

What To Expect If This Your First

It may be overwhelming at the first, but take your time to explore features of a Horus.  One of the best features of the Horus is its full telemetry capability, as well as RSSI signal strength feedback, there are 3 different programmable failsafe modes and receiver lock, so no more crashes due to selecting the wrong model. If you have stock in other brand receivers or B&F’s, no worries the Horus has a JR style RF module slot, so you have the option of other brand modules such as the Orange DSM2/DSMX or Open LRS 433mhz module. An inbuilt GPS module helps your model know where you are at all times, making it easier to return to you.

AOMWAY FPV 200mW 700TVL AV Transmitter

If you are looking for a quick way to view the world from the sky, the Aomway Mini video transmitter packs 200mW of ultra clean 5.8GHz power in a micro sized video/audio package integrated with a 700 TVL camera.  That’s right Plug N Play FPV! and at 19 grams!  ■ by dronemission.com

First Impression,  love the fact that it is plug and play.  Easy to use, just deciding how you want to power this FPV gear is the only challenge you may have or maybe not.  It comes pre-wired with a standard JST battery plug, allowing you to use any battery type, not limiting to AA or LiPo.

What To Expect

The AOMWAY FPV 200mW 700TVL can get hot with a 3s LiPo.  We had tested it with a 2s and 3s LiPo with no issues. It did not broadcast any sound during our test.  The stock range at 200 mW is 1.2km and by changing the antennas on both ends, you can reached upto 3 km.  There seem to be distinctive vertical lines appearing on the broadcast.

Camera

The camera is a 700 TVL camera, with a 170 degree field of view.  The focus range 6 feet +, does not focus well at closeup.  See video for results.

Things you might need to know

  • Input voltage 6-28V
  • Powering plug is JST
  • Antenna connector is a SMA, if you use to use your own
  • Weight is 19g without the antenna

Radiolink CP620 750W 30A Hybrid Balance Charger

There are over a hundred lithium polymer (LiPo) battery balance chargers in the market, but not much has changed for a while, the same user interface and the same programming codes reused.   Radiolink is among the few that has taken the lead to change electric radio control (RC) with the CP620 hybrid charger and rethinking how to improve efficiency and low consumption in todays RC  ■ by dronemission.com

radiolink-cp620.jpg

First Impression,  an interesting charge methodology.  The CP620 starts charging through the main power cable with the maximum 30A in series at the suitable charge rate, once any cell is fully charged, it will then automatically changed to the independent balance charge mode charging through the balance port.  This increases the charge efficiency.  With a charge current of 30A, you have a maximum current of 6A for each cell to optimize the charge.

Eachine ProDVR Mini Video Audio Recorder

Eachine ProDVR is a useful mini digital DIY video recorder recently added to the long list of Eachine innovation. You can probably find a dozen applications yourself to put this little DVR to good use; some usage include using it as a micro Security CCTV DVR or recording video footage on a model aircraft. This mini DVR us especially popular among hobbyist. ■ by dronemission.com

eachine-prodvr

First Impression, this mini dvr is an innovative digital image capture card, leveraging the use of micro Secure Digital (SD) storage memory card.  It does require a user to have some basic experience in wiring and soldering.  Once you have installed the cables, you can determine the compatible connectors needed to receive video and to output video to a monitor.

A few issues has been identified.  The current firmware is not able to record in (720*480) or (1280*480) resolution.  It is only compatible with NTSC and not correctly recording with PAL cameras.  A new firmware is expected to be released to correct these issues.

Firefly Q6 Hawk Eye

Known to all, the GoPro design, form factor isn’t the most aerodynamic or slim design for action sports or model aircraft drone flying. The Firefly Q6 4K slimline sports camcorder is among the highly anticipated 2016 entry, retaining all the features of a LCD sports camera but resized to a keychain.   HAWK-EYE Aerial Video Technology is known for it’s ultra vivid FireFly 6s that carries a Sony CMOS 12.0 MP sensor with high resolution and GYRO image stabilization; recently putting GoPro in a tough spot. This round, a new challenger to the Mobius and Runcam ■ by dronemission.com

What To Expect If This Your First

HAWK-EYE Aerial Video cameras are designed for First Person View (FPV). The Q6 comes with an Audio Video out voltage converter cable. This allows you to connect to a video transmitter and begin receiving live video on your FPV goggles or monitors. Our initial test tells us this is a keeper, regardless if it films at a perfect 4K or not, the 1080P 60 FPS results are fantastic, with that perfect brightness balance suited for FPV. If you do not own a GoPro, this is definitely the choice for a budget Action Sports HD camera.

The menu system is simple and easy to use. Hawk-Eye has a clear understanding of usability, keeping the functions organized and reachable when needed. What differentiates the Firefly Q6 from it’s competitors, is the LCD screen embedded on a light 45 grams camera, inheriting the award winning Firefly 6S video quality. We like that the fact everything worked out of the box.
